First day Shooting

For the first day of shooting Ryan was not able to attend which meant that for the start it was Pearce, James and I. We were still undecided on who would be the main character (Mac Miller) of the video, so this meant that this was the first decision which had to be made. We decided on Pearce to be the main character and this meant that we had to dress him appropriately to show that he was the main character. A lot of thought went into the clothing as this is a fundamental part of a Hip-Hop video and also we wanted to get as much change of clothes in the video as possible.
We decided that we didn’t want to film for hours on end because you begin to get bored and lack inspiration, which meant we were going to film for shorter period on different days.
For the first day, we had two different locations which were James shed and the field behind his house. We filmed all the shots in order so we knew which parts of the song that we had to lip sing. We also had an idea, to start the video with about 10 seconds of footage before the song starts, as an introduction to the characters. This is what we filmed first and we filmed it from three different angles before we picked the final one. We wanted a handheld camera to start with so that there is a sign of intimacy and a relaxed approach.
In conclusion we then filmed the lip singing that we needed for the first minute of the song. We made sure that we changed costume in all of the singing in order to fit in the Hip-Hop theme. Then once we had filmed the important lyrics that we needed, we could then film clips to fit in around the lip singing parts.
