Ancillary Task - What is a Magazine advert?

In order for an Artist/Band to promote their songs or album they need to advertise them as much as possible. A very common way in which some Artists advertise is within magazines, websites or advert breaks on television. One main magazine that artists like to use to promote their music is 'NME'; this is a worldwide magazine that can be viewed online by millions around the globe. For our music video to be promoted we had to decide which magazine our

 advert would go in and also

plan what we want it to look like.

As our choice of song comes under the 'Hip-Hop' category, we thought that the 'Billboard' magazine would be perfectly suitable for our song. The reason for this is that the 'Billboard' magazine is one of the biggest worldwide magazine that focuses on Hip-Hop and R&B songs on a weekly basis and also that they have a 'Hot 100' section that indicates the Artists song in order that the viewers vote which they think is their favourite song of the week. In comparison to our song, one of the top-ten song choice by the viewers was 'Good Feeling' by Flo Rida. The chart shows that his song is ranked 8th for the week with 66 votes rating his song at 52% like the song. I compared our song choice to this as we felt it has a similar upbeat to our song and with it being in 8th place it proves that a song of that genre is capable of reaching the very top of the charts. I now will analyse other similar magazine adverts to gain inspiration for our own advert, to make it to the best we can.
